All PETG filaments you should know in 2022
1. What is PETG filament?
PETG(Also called polyethylene terephthalate-1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol)filament is an amorphous transparent plastic material. PETG is the most common using form of PET (Also called Polyethylene Terephthalate) , with the G version standing for the glycol is added during the producing process, which is a widely used for mechanical parts whether it is indoor or outdoor. Glycol modifies the performance of PET, so that it’s easier to print, less brittle and clearer when printing with semi-transparent variants.
PETG filament has the property of outstanding heat-resisting and durable, high rigidity and flexibility and good heat resistance as ABS, and it is low warping and easier to print. Parts printed with PETG are not only chemical-resistant and tolerant to a variety of chemicals and detergents., but also keeping good liquidity (flows smoothly) and high mechanical strength. At the same time it is wide applicability, compatible with most 3D printers, and keeping high dimensional accuracy of 1.75 mm (±0.02 mm) diameter.
2. What are the classifications of PETG filament?
Sorted by material, it can be divided into PETG normal, PETG rainbow, PETG matte and PETG carbon fiber.
Sorted by size, it can be divided into 250kg and 1kg.
Sorted by color, PETG and PETG matte have 12 colors in total (any other RAL color we can customize for you if you need as the following video)
3.Is PETG filament better than PLA filament?
Compared with PLA, PETG has higher transparency and users can create more radiant and beautiful objects. Having higher toughness than PLA. Having higher hardness than PLA. The impact strength is more than 30 times that of standard PLA. Elongationat break is more than 50 times that of standard PLA. Adhesive force is stronger than that of PLA.
4.Is PETG filament the same as PLA filament?
PETG filaments combine the advantages of PLA such as odorless, esay-to-print, and little shrinkage rate, but it has more considerably temperature resistant and mechanical performances(such as high impact strength and durability) that standard PLA prints just cannot achieve. We have put PETG and PETG carbon fiber into the automobile industry. Testing and printing with iSANMATE high-quality PETG carbon fiber and Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol material. They are very strong, durable, lightweight, sandable, paintable, non-corrosive, extreme weather, heat, chemicals, UV resistant and will give you a good experience in riding and driving.
5.Is PETG filament safer than PLA filament?
PETG filaments are the same as PLA in odorless. There is almost no odor during the printing process, and no toxic carcinogen styrene is released at all. The material itself has food contact specifications, so that users can feel more at ease when enjoying the fun of printing.
6.What is PETG filament used for?
With PETG filament and PETG matte filament you can print any 3d models you like. It can be the art parts like decorations or ornaments.
With PETG rainbow you can print any 3d models you like. It can be the art parts like art decorations or ornaments.
With PETG normal and PETG carbon fiber you can print any 3d mechanical parts you like. Parts printed with PETG are widely used not only in the prototyping stage of product development, but also in later functional testing and part assembly stages. Printed PETG parts have been successfully used in manufacturing applications with or without post-processing.
7.What are the production process of PETG normal, PETG rainbow, PETG carbon fiber, and PETG matte filaments?
Comparable to other composite filaments, iSANMATE PETG matte ,PETG carbon fiber, and PETG rainbow filaments are made from basic PETG instilled with different filling materials. The material integrated with color masterbatch and color power might be more colorful and carbon powder which can be used in mechanical areas.
8. What certifications have you obtained?
Of course, all our 3d printer filaments are currently CE and ROHS certified
9. What matters should be paid attention to when using PETG filament?
(1)Pay attention to the moisture resistance of the filament. The PETG material has the characteristics of water absorption, and the PETG filament are no exception. After you use it, please put the filaments in a sealed box or a sealed bag and add a desiccant for storage.
(2)PETG filament print roughly with 230-250 degrees.
(3)Our PETG 3d filaments are also suitable for use under 0.4mm nozzle.
(4) Please clean the nozzle immediately after use. You can use pla filament of about 15CM to feed into the printer and extrude to achieve the purpose of cleaning.
10. How to set the printing parameters well?
If you already have isanmate PETG 3d filaments, our recommended printing parameters are as follows:
