Polycaprolactone (PCL) is biodegradable polyester with a low melting point of around 60°C and a glass transition temperature of about −60°C. PCL is prepared by ring-opening polymerization of ɛ-caprolactone using a catalyst such as stannous octanoate.

For 3D printing filaments prepared with PCL as raw material, the printing temperature cannot exceed 100 °C, and the actual temperature after printing the pen does not exceed 50 °C, so there is no need to worry about burns and other safety issues caused by excessive temperature.
