Comparison of iSANMATE seven kinds of carbon fiber filaments

Here are a variety of 3D printed carbon fiber reinforcements to help you understand the different characteristics and uses, so that you have a better understanding of how to choose their own filament.

The following are classified according to different materials (PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC, PA6, PA12) , arrange materials from small to large: strength and rigidity, abrasion resistance, heat resistance, impact resistance, stability, and cost-performance parameters reference:

  • PLA carbon fiber: PLA is a biodegradable material with good environmental performance, and its strength and hardness can be improved by adding carbon fiber. PLA carbon fiber is suitable for printing details and models, but its temperature stability is poor.
  • PETG carbon fiber: PETG is a tough material, the strength and hardness are improved after carbon fiber reinforcement, and it has excellent UV resistance and is not easy to change color. PETG carbon fiber is suitable for printing parts with high hardness and strength requirements.
  • ASA carbon fiber: ASA is a material with good weather resistance. After printing, the surface is smooth and tough, and the strength is higher after carbon fiber reinforcement. ASA carbon fiber is suitable for printing outdoor products and auto parts, etc.
  • ABS carbon fiber: ABS is a commonly used engineering plastic with good strength and toughness, high wear resistance and oil resistance, and its strength is higher after carbon fiber reinforcement. ABS carbon fiber is suitable for printing gears, transmission parts, etc.
  • PC carbon fiber: PC is an extremely high-strength material, which has higher strength and hardness after being reinforced with carbon fiber. PC carbon fiber is suitable for printing extremely durable and high-strength components.
  • PA6 carbon fiber: PA6 is a very tough and impact-resistant material that is reinforced with carbon fiber for greater strength and stiffness. PA6 carbon fiber is suitable for printing parts that require high strength, durability and impact resistance.
  • PA12 carbon fiber: PA12 is a high-performance engineering plastic with extremely high strength, hardness and rigidity, and the strength is higher after carbon fiber reinforcement. PA12 carbon fiber is suitable for printing parts under the highest requirements.

It should be noted that the above data is a reference value, this is only a relative ranking, the actual material parameters produced by different manufacturers may vary. The properties and strength of materials are also affected by the type of printer and printing parameters. Therefore, the final choice of materials should follow the actual production needs and the actual use of the scenario, and take into account the material’s performance and price.
